GUIDO'S GARDENS:
"THE ORIGINAL GARDENERS."

from GAIA COLLEGE school of botany and horticulture
If you are following the friars, we will be uploading a list of all the plants they featured in the fioretti. As mentioned elsewhere, the Mediterranean (English="middle earth", and yes, Volcanos feature heavily in Tolkien as well as Dante for that matter), where Jesus was born, is an ancient garden where volcanic soil and river deltas have contributed to a basket of goodies for the world.

A week of nature

this one week break time ramble has always been held in the 17th week of the Spring sessions. it is is intended to introduce participants to nature. More Thoreau than Mccandless, it is user friendly and based on the saying, green is good for everybody,

May 1st is an ancient holiday celebrating nature as well as a religious holiday for Catholics and a labor day in many places-- find out the history of this holy day-holy in the true sense meaning good.

Back to Eden, one grapevine at a time

MAY 6 UPDATE: For those who enjoyed their time on break, the 16 week summer gardening/gaia class is a more in-depth Thoreau-esque look at how nature is a way to God. Ever since we got exiled from the gardens of paradise, we've struggled to eke out a living from the soil and protect ourselves from wild weather and carnivorous predators. Recent advances in technology have made life easier for us, but alienated us from the first job God ever gave us: "live in the garden and take care of it."

Nature is also a way to political peace..Our common home is one way we know we are one family--if one of us is kind to the earth, we all rejoice in spirit, and if one of us pollutes the sea or the air, we all go through it, we all suffer.
Week one, plant at least one plant from the vast array God/Gaia has given to the garden so as to fulfill that first command.

Week two, find out what health benefits that plant provides to the earth, animals, people etc.
